St. Bernard of Clairvaux: "Meditation is a quest for TRUTH"
There are many notions and ideas as to the purpose of Meditation. Basically, your own practice should be based in your personal belief system. If you're open to exploration into varying beliefs Meditation is a wonderful tool to utilize in that search. Most of the current studies on mind body medicine are incorporating a blend of Eastern and Western schools of thought. What you get out of your practice is basically equal to the diligence you use to stick with it. The practice starts off slow, mind habits dominate. There are moments where you move beyond the senses into a place of pure knowing. In time with due diligence this place is recalled with ease throughout your day - it is a place of truth...of reality - the veil of illusion lifts and we are momentarily set free.
