Mind Habits

Are you familiar with your own personal mind habits? Do you perceive them as good or bad? What mind habits pull you back and which ones push you forward?

..These are excellent questions to meditate on...

The mind is a powerful tool. An excellent place to become aware of our own mind habits is through meditative awareness. As you sit quietly, still...focusing all of your intention and attention on the breath - observe the habits of your mind. Objectively watch how your mind pulls you - thoughts that are bothersome, memories that serve no purpose, troubling questions that have no valid answer...let them go by. Let the process of stilling the mind and body take you to the center - a place of calm assurance, a source of light ...illumination. Become aware of how peaceful you feel in the present moment. When we let go of the past and stop projecting into the future we become non-reactive, we become responsive to the present moment.

Sometimes, it is darkest before the dawn. As sunlight begins to trickle down upon us we can bask in its warm glow. Hope is a colorful emotion...it fills us with possibilities. If we are living from our own authentic center - not projecting our shadows onto others, we can spread a little hope. Daily prayer and meditation is the best way for me to clear away the wreckage from my past so that in the moment I am whole in body, mind and spirit. Today, I am filled with hope, love and light...and for that, I am truly grateful.
