Are You Looking For Me ~ Kabir
Are you looking for me? I am in the next seat. My shoulder is against yours. You will not find me in the stupas, not in Indian shrine rooms, nor in synagogues, nor in cathedrals: not in masses, nor kirtans, not in legs winding around your own neck, nor in eating nothing but vegetables.
When you really look for me, you will see me instantly...you will find me in the tiniest house of time.
Kabir says: Student, tell me, what is God?
"God" is the breath inside the breath.
That's a pretty powerful image. "God" is the breath inside the breath. With Meditation the gift of grace that we are given is the ability to experience life in a different light with a different perspective. Reality doesn't change only our perception changes. Meditation is something that happens with regular practice of stilling the mind and body. It's a gift of grace into the present moment.
If you go into your practice with expectations lowered and no yearning for results you are freed from ego and attachments. Underneath the waves of mental chatter there is a place of calm. In the practice our minds are opened and our consciousness expanded, we begin to sense the oneness of life within us and around us. This feeling of oneness happens as our mind, body and spirit begin to sync during the meditative process. This synchronicity resonates through our being, it permeates out around us during our day.
Some call this "space" or place that we are in - seeing God with skin..as in seeing God in the faces of others. Others use the expression seeing the light or life in someones eyes. The gift of grace that happens as a natural result of Meditation is that we are truly alive in the present moment able to see past Ego...past judgemental notions...past religious barriers...we see true oneness in the world around us.
