Icing on the Cake...

"When you have come to the edge Of all light that you know And are about to drop off into the darkness Of the unknown, Faith is knowing One of two things will happen: There will be something solid to stand on or You will be taught to fly” ~ Patrick Overton

Hopefully you are on your path of meditation. Last week the types of meditation were broken down into five categories; concentration, mindfulness, heart centered, reflection and creative. You should have enough basic information on the technique of meditation to get you started!

Having a faith or religious belief is not a critical element necessary for one to get the many benefits that meditation has to offer. Faith is icing on the cake say to speak. It makes your practice richer. You bring yourself into your meditative journey, your whole self and meditation is a very spiritual endeavor. So naturally you bring your faith with you.

At the very beginning of my meditative journey - I thought it was necessary for me to change from a more westernized philosophy as far as religion goes to a more eastern way of thinking and believing...I must be honest and say that I was very very superstitious. As my journey progressed I became aware of the ingredient of bringing my whole self - just like I was and letting meditation enhance ME...not change me. The things that I was looking for in meditation were there all along waiting to be discovered. And that is why I love meditating...it's like going on a treasure hunt!

Remember to let me know how your practice is going..maybe I've been there and can share my experience, strength and hope....better yet, maybe you can share something that will help me in my practice.

Namaste!
