Just ask the question

A man may fulfill the object of his existence by asking a question he cannot answer, and attempting a task he cannot achieve. ~ Oliver Wendell Holmes

Meditation is for listening, learning, exploring, experiencing, growing and transforming - to name only a few of the benefits! So why not use it to answer questions that are weighing you down? It took me years to realize the usefulness of simply asking a question. Somewhere along my journey my pride developed into a wall of falsehood whereby I spent the majority of my time either thinking I needed to have all of the answers or simply "pretending" that I already knew far more than I ever could! For almost a solid year of my life I raged, often times out loud, at the universe as to why I didn't have a calling like many of my friends. I certainly wanted a calling, I was definitely ticked off that I didn't have one and then one day I was awakened - in one of those "aha" kind of moments where I realized that I'd never bothered to ask the question - "what is my calling in life?"

That was my big question, the one that I just couldn't seem to get right. Your question or questions may be simpler or perhaps more complex but you've got one or two. Go ahead, sit quietly, breath normally in and out, close your eyes, center your heart and mind then just ask - ask the God of your understanding, your higher power, the universe whomever you choose to petition: who, what, when, where, why or how? And then listen for the answer. You may not get the answer or solution the first time you try it - be diligent, ask everyday during your meditative time until you get an answer. Just remember, the answer may be a loud and resounding NO!

Serenity is directly proportionate to your lever of acceptance, your level of acceptance is inversely proportionate to your level of expectations!

Namaste~
