Meditation is not a way of making your mind quiet. It is a way of entering into the quiet that is already there -buried under the 50,000 thoughts the average person thinks every day. ~ Deepak Chopra
Well that quote says it all doesn't it? The point of meditation is to enter into the quiet that is buried within us! Boy did I have that one backwards. Years ago when I began my meditation journey I was desperately searching for a way to silence the incessant monkey chatter that filled my days. Instead what I have found is just what Dr. Chopra has so eloquently stated; deep within the core of my being "in the valley of my soul" there was a place of quiet, calm and stillness waiting patiently to be cultivated. This place of which I speak is a place that lies deep within each and every one of us if we dare to embark on the adventure of discovery!
Just as every individual being has their own characteristics and attributes meditation reveals to the meditator spiritual messages that pertain only to their unique person. There is a universal application in that once you have attained peace within yourself it will radiate around you like a light. It's contagious! What a way to live - instead of "keeping up with the Jones'" you'll find yourself wanting to live by spiritual principles and you'll smile more, your eyes will sparkle, patience
will flourish where anger once weeded out all common sense!
Meditation is not the kind of knowledge you can gain from a book rather it can only be gained by practice! That means action and I like that - acting rather than reacting mean choices. So what's the point of meditation? To walk a path that only you can walk - into the valley of your own soul that leadeth beside still waters!
Peace and blessings!
