The dragonfly can symbolize swiftness, activity and whirlwinds, but, like the butterfly, it also symbolizes rebirth and immortality. They also symbolize transformation and adaptation. When mating, dragonflies form a heart shape so they are also a symbol of love. They symbolize our ability to transform ourselfs through a spiritual awakening. So if you see a dragonfly in an unusual place or setting, it is probably a good symbol meaning luck, transformation, or spiritual awakening.
The power to transform your thinking comes for me through meditation. Moments of serenity lend themselves to spiritual awakenings of the educational variety. William James a 20th century Philosopher and Psychologist said that a spiritual experience is what it is for the impact it has on the individual, You had one! A moment where you felt the presence of God . Whether it was a moment of sentimentality or a mystical experience these moments carry with them a sense of inner authority and illuminate us when they come. Once you’ve had a spiritual experience, a seed is planted and for that seed to sprout it needs to be nourished.
Tranformations are subtle. There's a seed inside of you waiting to be transformed into the thing you were put on this earth to accomplish. Meditation and prayer are the best path I have found to nourish those seeds!
