..."Youve got to accentuate the positive, eliminate the negative"... ~~~ lyrics by:Johnny Mercer
...You've got to spread joy up to the maximum
Bring gloom down to the minimum
Have faith or pandemonium's
Liable to walk upon the scene
To illustrate my last remark
Jonah in the whale, Noah in the ark
What did they do just when everything looked so dark?...
The lyrics to this song were actually taken from a 1930's sermon by Father Divine. The message that was conveyed then still holds true for today. When the world is dark around us - which at some point or another it's going to be - we can choose to focus on the light. The light gives us hope. In the darkness we wrestle with our own human emotions - pride, greed, envy etc.as hope creeps in we can choose to focus on the moments of peace. Being positive feeds on itself just as negativity perpetuates itself to chaotic proportions!
Meditation gives me a moment of peace. I do not have the luxury to live in a spiritual hermitage - I spend my days dealing with life on lifes terms and somedays it's tough! Those moments of peace can be recalled whenever I choose and in a moment through an ever sublte shift I am transformed from hovering on the abyss of chaos to a state of peace and tranquility.
