“Where there is FAITH, there is LOVE; Where there is LOVE; there is PEACE; Where there is PEACE; there is GOD; Where there is GOD; there is BLISS.”
Sri Sathya Sai Baba
Joseph Campbell said, "Follow your bliss and the universe will open doors for you where there were only walls”...
Websters defines bliss as: 1. complete happiness 2. paradise/heaven
Neither Mr. Campbell nor Websters are implying that the state of bliss is achieved by doing whatever one wants to do...bliss is a by product of doing the right thing. The right thing is the what we were intended to d-. The right thing is the path you were born to be on. Regardless of life's circumstances the state of bliss is your purpose in life.
Are you irritable, restless and discontent? Do you search daily for something to make you feel fulfilment? Are you constantly questioning your very existence?
I have ask these questions many times. I have raged at the universe - threatened to runaway from my life, thrown my hands up in the air and barely managed to sit still for moments of times pondering the deeper meaning of my existence. And you know - answers will come!
Answers come in the subtlest of ways. They come when a stranger smiles and comments about the beautiful blue sky, they come when a small child needs my attention! When a helpless animal needs for me to feed and care for it, I know that my calling in life is to care for others. Not in a grand way but in small kind deeds - watering a neighbors flowers, getting an elder persons mail, listening to someone who's struggling. My life is not a grand calling for fame and fortune, it's kindness, listening, holding someones hand who's grieving and meditation gives me those moments.
Without meditation I'd be running 90 mph day and night. Bliss would be just concept , a notion of relaxing days spend lounging by pool thinking only of myself. What I believe today is that we all have a purpose. Our journey in this life is inevitably wrought with struggles, immense unending and even unanswerable questions but when we align ourself with the will of the universe or with our higher power - we know bliss. It's right before our very eyes! All we have to do is be still and listen!
Meditation "experts" suggest that we meditate for 10 minutes 3 times a week. Thirty minutes out of 168 hours and we can get a glimpse of paradise...try it...you might like it!!!
peace and grace...
