Today I meditated in the morning and again after lunch. It gives me the ability to center myself. In that place I find clarity. The image that came to me in this afternoon meditation was of me swinging on a swingset. I wanted to capture that sensation! I wanted to find Lagan and gain wisdom. The color for the day was a combination of red and blue. Root and heart chakra. So it was PURPLE. Sometimes this gets a little analytical and requires investigation. On the "path" there was emotion, intellect, physical sensation and images. Yea, I was busy! But after I read the web page, which I've inserted above, I gained a small bit of insight!
Monkey Mind or Monkey Chatter is a concept of ZEN. Before todays meditation I exclusively associated that concept with the "noise" in my head, my voice or thoughts. The Five Tree and Meditation give a very insightful explanation that expounds on the concept of Monkey Mind! To sum up my miniscule understanding, I am addicted to the habits of my mind even in meditation like when I am chasing for Lagan, or asking for answers, or when my arm itches and I can't not scratch it. This is not meditation. Meditation is about letting go of attachments! It is better to be the Monkey or the Tree than to let my mind run away. Becoming the Monkey and climbing to the top of the tree is more of a meditative state than constantly jumping/swinging around. It's a shift in perspective. It's called transcendence!
