Pearls of Wisdom
“Errors, like straws, upon the surface flow; he who would search for pearls must dive below.”
John Dryden
The practice of meditation requires patience and diligence if one is gain any sort of benefit. Through the daily practice of looking inward one begins to awaken. After my moments of meditation I often feel more calm and a feeling of peace flows gently through my being. Meditation gives me the ability to choose my thoughts and my actions.
"Rome wasn't built in a day" is by far the idiom I most often use when trying to convince myself that subtle shifts are better than drastic revisions. Meditation is more likened to a pearl. Each pearl is cultivated slowly over time. The moments of meditation begin to take their natural shape and form. What we take away from each days practice, if we are so fortunate, is a beautiful unique pearl. Pearls of wisdom formed slowly over time have a lasting quality.
Today, I will sit quietly and listen to the still small voice. Breathing in faith and breathing out fear in hopes of finding a bit of wisdom, even it is in the form of grace!
