Peace

Nobody can bring you peace but yourself.
Ralph Waldo Emerson

Websters has many definitions of peace. The one that I most like is: peace - freedom of the mind from annoyance, distraction, anxiety, an obsession, etc.; tranquillity; serenity. For many years I sought peace outside of myself. I thought that peace was a commodity that could be bought or sold, traded or received from some source outside of me. Today through much turbulence and strife I have a found a way to find freedom, tranquility and serenity by ridding my mind of annoying thoughts, distracting notions, anxious thinking and obsession! The way I get there is through meditation!

There are many forms of meditation. I have tried many forms of meditation, Kundalini, various Christian forms, Sikh, Buddhist, guided imagery and music to name a few. My favorite is Kundalini. There is no right or wrong way to meditate. It is the intent that matters. Meditation can be walking mindfully through the wilderness or sitting by a lake pondering the perplexities of mere existence. I prefer to meditate in solitude, to sit and repeat centering phrases or to breathe mindfully and follow the beautiful imagery that comes into my minds eye. Mediation is about changing the thoughts and emotions that are bothering me into positive peaceful feelings.

Often times I become swept up into the current of life. After I've tumbled around for awhile I come out the other side a bit tired and weary. I sit in my meditation room and let the storm inside of me subside like the waters of a raging tide roll back into the sea. The sun shines, the birds sing and I become at peace with myself and the world around me. There are many things in my life I can not change! I can however change my thoughts. Thoughts trigger words and words trigger emotions. So by changing my thoughts I change what I say and how I feel. What I most like to feel is PEACE.

All I'm saying ~ is give peace a chance!
