Peace Like A River

“Better than a thousand hollow words, is one word that brings peace.”---Buddha

Meditation today was brief but ever so effective. Although there was no visual imagery I found a moment of stillness. What I've found during this meditative journey is that one moment of stillness permeates through my being and can last throughout my entire day. If there are intrusive thoughts or actions I can recall that moment of stillness. Sometimes I fall prey to old habits of negativity but with the help of friends on my spiritual path I am reminded that today I have a choice. Choosing peace and happiness over misery.

In the valley of my soul the peace flows gently like a river. It is quiet there at times. Other times words of wisdom flow abundantly. I am amazed to be on such a journey. Arriving at the place of "peace like a river" is not a once in a lifetime event - I choose. Through knowing sorrow I am grateful for joy. For spending much time lost in the darkness - I spend much time seeking the light. My life has not been normal it has been filled with immense pain and for that I seek "peace like a river."
