Prayer of St. Francis
Lord, make me an channel of your peace;
where there is hatred, let me sow love;
where there is injury, pardon:
where there is doubt, faith ;
where there is despair, hope
where there is darkness, light
where there is sadness, joy
Grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console;
to be understood, as to understand;
to be loved, as to love;
for it is in giving that we receive,
it is in forgiving that we are forgiven,
and it is in dying that we are born to Eternal Life.
I often recite this centering prayer before beginning my morning ritual of meditation. The "channel" is a very visual reference for my minds eye. In the middle, the space between breaths I find the God of my Understanding! Today I sought prayer and meditation to improve my conscious contact with my God. As a result I have had many moments of peace. Peace in letting go of unpleasant thoughts, peace as in a calm feeling, peace in accepting life on life's terms.
There were no spirit Guides today in my meditation, there was no chasing adventures in the visual imagery in my minds eye. Stillness is giving me space inside as I sit in the channel.
Peace and blessings!
